THE SECOND COLLECTION next weekend, November 5-6, will be the annual appeal for Retired Religious and Diocesan Retired Priests.  Please be generous.

ST. ANNE HOME 2012 CALENDAR TICKETS will be available this weekend (Nov. 5-6) after Masses in the back of church. Tickets ($25) play daily from the PA Lottery numbers.

 

ST. JOSEPH SCHOOL OF RELIGION (K-12) holds classes each Sunday 9:45- 11:00 am.

CHURCH ROOF REPLACEMENT is underway. Until further notice, the Painter Street entrance and walkway should not be used. Please pray for the workers’ safety and a good outcome.       

THE PARISH OFFICE will be closed this Tuesday, November 1st, All Saints Day.

ALL SAINTS DAY, this Tuesday, November 1st, is a holyday of obligation.  Two Masses are scheduled here (see the Mass schedule in this bulletin). Please note that there will not be an 11:30 am Mass here this Tuesday, due to the holyday schedule.

ALL SOULS DAY (The Commemoration of all the Faithful Departed) is this Wednesday, November 2nd.  Names of loved ones may be written in the ALL SOULS REMEMBRANCE binder in the back of the church.  This will be placed in front of the altar for Mass. Mass stipends cannot be accepted.  Also, a blessing service will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery at 11:00 am near the Cross.

ST. JOSEPH SOCIETY HOLIDAY PIE SALE: All orders must be placed no later than Monday, November 7th.  Pick-up will be on Wednesday, November 9th.  Extra order blanks are located in the back of the church.  All profits will be used for the painting the church.

ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST REGIONAL CATHOLIC SCHOOL: 

Mark Your Calendars for our Fourth Annual Gala to be held on Saturday, November 5 from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m.   Donations are now being accepted.  Items such as collectibles, furniture, antiques, etc. are greatly appreciated.  Individuals may also donate services – baking, hair styling, estate planning etc.  Contact the school for more information.

Calling All Veterans…The school will be honoring ALL veterans from our region on Thursday, November 10 with lunch at noon, followed by a prayer service and ending with an ice cream social with the children of the school.  Call 724-887-9550 by Nov. 3 to make reservations.

THANKSGIVING FOOD BASKETS will be given out at St. John the Baptist in Scottdale on Saturday, November 19th.  You may sign up to receive food by calling 724-887-5626.   The deadline is Tuesday, November 8th.

 

SPAGHETTI DINNER  Everson VFW Post 595 will sponsor a Spaghetti Dinner on Wednesday, November 2nd, 4:00-7:00 pm, featuring spaghetti with meat sauce, salad, roll, dessert and beverage.  Adults, $7.00; children (6-12 years), $3.50; children under 6, FREE.  Take-out orders available.

ST. JOHN BYZANTINE CATHOLIC CHURCH, Scottdale, Altar Society will hold a Flea Market Nov. 3-5.  Donated items and treasures will be accepted through this Monday, Oct. 31st.  The sale dates are:  Thursday (3rd), 6-8 pm - $5 admission; Friday (4th), 9 am – 4 pm, lunch available; Saturday (5th), 9 am – 1 pm, lunch available.  Saturday, $2 bag sale, all items.

SAINT VINCENT COLLEGE  Continuing Lecture Series on Aging and Spirituality will present Sister Rita Yeasted, SFCC, Ph.D., English Professor & Department Chair, LaRoche College on Wednesday, Nov. 9th, at 6:00 pm at the Fred M. Rogers Center.  The topic will be “Celebrating the Ordinary: Spirituality of Everyday Life.”  All are welcome to attend this FREE program.  Reservations are not required, but appreciated.  Call 724-805-2522.

DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME ends Nov. 6th.  Turn clocks back 1 hour Saturday night (5th).
