125th ANNIVERSARY CHALLENGE response continues to be remarkable and very encouraging. May it continue and bring us the Lord’s promised blessings. Thank you!

ST. JOSEPH SCHOOL OF RELIGION (K-12):

  • Regular Classes continue this Sunday, January 15th, 9:45 am – 11:00 am.
  • Parents’ Program for 2nd grade children preparing for First Holy Communion will be held next Sunday, January 22nd at 10 am in the church.
  • Mt. Pleasant Youth Ministry has invited St. Joseph youths (6-12) to a bowling get-together at the Mt. Pleasant Bowling Alley on Sunday, January 29th, 1-3 pm. The $5 cost will be covered by St. Joseph Youth Ministry. Meet us at the bowling alley! Also, St. Joseph’s Youth Ministry (6-12) will sponsor a Sweetheart Soup & Salad & Dessert Bar in the school hall on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, at 5:00 pm after our vigil Mass. Adults - $6; Children - $4. Take-outs will be available. Plan to come for fellowship and in support our Youth Ministry.  

HEARTFELT & PRAYERFUL PARISH SYMPATHY is extended to the family of Bridget R. Marchewka ,who was laid to holy rest with a Mass of Christian Burial here on January 9th.  May she and all of our beloved departed inherit our Lord’s promise of glorious new life, and may the hope of eternal reunion in our Father’s House comfort the families.

CHURCH ROOF & GUTTER REPLACEMENT WORK will be completed as weather conditions permit. Only the shingle replacement of the two spires remains to be done. Please continue to pray for a good outcome and safety for the workers.    

ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST REGIONAL CATHOLIC SCHOOL:

Kindergarten Information Night will be held Wednesday, January 18th, 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.  All parents interested in learning more about the school’s full day Kindergarten Program for the 2012-13 school term are invited to attend.  Learn more about the value of a Catholic education, our curriculum, tuition assistance, transportation, etc.  Children should be five years of age by September 1st.  To register for the evening or to gather more information, please call the school at 724-887-9550. 

GREENSBURG CENTRAL CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL PLACEMENT TEST is being offered for current 8th grade students this Monday, January 16th, 8:00 – 11:30 am, at Greensburg Central Catholic.  Information and application are available at www.gcchs.org.

This test is required for all incoming Freshmen. 

 THE BENEDICTINE NUNS OF ST. EMMA MONASTERY, GREENSBURG invite you to join them for their annual Pro-Life Prayer Vigil on Wednesday, January 18th.  Rev. Richard Tomkosky, pastor of St. John the Evangelist Parish, Everett, PA will give the reflections.  Schedule:  2:30 p.m. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and conference, 3:45 p.m. conference, 5:00 p.m. sung Vespers with the Benedictine Nuns, 6:30 p.m. conference, 7:30 p.m. Compline and closes with Benediction.  Light refreshments are provided.  There is no charge - you are our guest.  Individuals are welcome to come for whatever time they are able.  Please RSVP to retreats@stemma.org or call 724-834-3060, Ext. 139.

ALL YOU CAN EAT PANCAKE, EGG & SAUSAGE BREAKFAST will be held next Sunday, January 22nd, 8 am – 12 noon, at the Visitation Parish Community Center in Mt. Pleasant.  Menu: Pancakes, eggs, sausage, toast and beverage of your choice.  Adults, $6.00; Children (10 & under), $3.00; Toddlers, free.  Buckwheat cakes will be available as well as take-out.  Tickets may be purchased at the door.  Come join us!

PRAY FOR LIFE with The Greensburg Diocesan Council of the National Council of  Catholic Women on Monday, January 23rd, at the Bishop Connare Center, Greensburg, beginning with the Rosary at ll:30 am and followed by 12 noon Mass, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and prayer until the 4:30 pm closing.  All are welcome. Please encourage others not attending the March for Life in Washington, D.C. to come and pray with us.
