DIOCESAN LENTEN APPEAL: This is “Commitment Sunday” weekend! To date, 34 of our 356 families have pledged/paid $4,055 which is 20% of our $20,145 goal. This includes a Diocesan target of $15,145 plus $5,000 (assessment-free) for our parish needs.  Please consider contributing to this very important appeal ASAP if you have not yet done so.  Every gift is greatly appreciated.

EASTER FLOWER OFFERING envelope is in this month’s packet.  Please drop it in the regular Sunday collection basket.  Thank you.

PLANNED GIVING: WHY IT’S IMPORTANT
Do you have a will? Most people (60%) die without one. With no will, the laws of the state will determine the distribution of your assets. If you have a will, is the Church designated as one of your beneficiaries? Unfortunately, very few Catholics remember their parishes in their wills. In my 28 years of priesthood, I am aware of only a handful of cases where the parish received even a small bequest from a departed parishioner. Our tithing should extend to our wills. Consider leaving 5% of liquid assets (after all bills are paid) to St. Joseph Parish Endowment Fund. Such a gift will benefit our parish in perpetuity! Another equal portion can be left to help the poor and the Church beyond the parish. You will be blessed now and beyond the grave!

ANOINTING OF THE SICK will be administered here this Wednesday (30th) at 7:00 pm.  Anyone who feels the need for this sacrament may receive it. (Please note: the Anointing of the Sick will also be offered at a 3:00 pm Mass next Sunday, April 3rd, at St. Pius Church in Mr. Pleasant.)

THE OPPORTUNITY SCHOLARSHIP GRANT PROGRAM (SB 1), was approved by the PA Senate’s Education Committee, 8-2, and moves to the full Senate for consideration this month.  (See today’s bulletin insert to learn more about this important legislation.) Now is the time to contact your state senator to voice your support for the bill.  For more information, including how to join Advocates for Catholic Education in Pennyslvania, ACE-PA, and how to contact your senator, go to www.pacatholic.org/ace-pa.

THE SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION will be administered by Bishop Brandt on Pentecost Sunday (June 12th) at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral to baptized adults and youths who are beyond 3rd grade in school.

PLEASE HOLD ON to your old parish photos and memorabilia. We will be asking to borrow them for our parish 125th anniversary.
