May God reward you. REVISED ROMAN MISSAL is being gradually introduced at Masses. This weekend, the new Memorial Acclamation, also called “The Mystery of Faith”, will be sung. See the cards titled Mass Responses and Prayers found in the book racks of each pew for the words, and please join in singing as you learn the melody.ANNUAL OCTOBER COUNT of people participating in the weekend Masses continues this weekend. All persons in the church, except the priest, will be counted. This number, as a percentage of parishioners, is an important measure of the spiritual health of the parish. There is a grave obligation to attend Sunday Mass each week. ST. JOSEPH SCHOOL OF RELIGION (K-12) classes are each Sunday 9:45 am – 11 am. Today, the parents program for First Penance will take place at 9:45 am in the church.NIGHTTIME EUCHARISTIC ADORATION, from 7 pm Tuesday until 8 am Wednesday, continues into week SIXTEEN! Please continue to support our adorers with your prayers. CHURCH ROOF REPLACEMENT is scheduled to begin this week. THE ST. JOSEPH SOCIETY will meet this Wednesday, October 12th, at 6:00 pm in the school hall. THE ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY Parish Conference will meet this Wednesday, October 12th, at 7:30 in the convent. FOOD DRIVE. sponsored by our parish conference of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, is this weekend, October 8-9, and next, October 15-16. Non-perishable food items are being collected for the Thanksgiving food baskets to be given out at St. John’s in November. Canned soups, pasta and sauce, mac and cheese, tuna, cereal, peanut butter, canned vegetables and canned sweet potatoes are especially needed. 2012 MASS INTENTIONS: Mass intentions for 2012 are now being accepted. Requests are limited to one (1) on the weekend and four (4) during the week per family. If through the year weekend/weekday Masses remain available, a notice will be put in the bulletin. OCTOBER IS RESPECT LIFE MONTH! Abortion, the death penalty, persons with disabilities, reproductive technologies, embryo research, marriage, contraception and the end of life are just some of the Respect Life issues treated in pamphlets available from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops on the internet. THE PENNSYLVANIA CATHOLIC BISHOPS (PCC) reaffirm their strong opposition to the Federal Health & Human Services Mandate that would violate religious freedom and force private insurance plans to cover contraception – including abortifacients – and sterilization. The Bishops also urge support for the school voucher program, saying, “Now is the time to ensure that ideal educational opportunities are accessible and available to all.” More information about these topics and the PCC is available at www.pacatholic.org. We will gather at 1:30 pm to register and turn in our money. At 2:00 pm, we will begin a walk a route through Scottdale.
